By Rajina Shrestha | 2010 LEADer and Board Vice-President
Thank you for your generous donation through Women LEAD's Girl Fund Campaign. Together we were able to raise $1636 to support young women like me to gain the skills we need to stand on equal footing with men in our professional careers.
I joined Women LEAD in 2010 as a program participant and have currently been serving as the Vice President of Women LEAD Nepal. I interned in 2011 and started a non-profit called Women Leaders in Technology along with program alumnis in 2013.
When I joined the workforce right after college, Women LEAD’s program on mindfulness for Leadership called Trailblazers helped me to focus my attention at work, make wiser decisions, and become mindful of my professional goals. The biggest lesson I learnt was that listening is hugley underrated and can make all the difference when working with others in teams.
I joined the Women LEAD’s Writer’s Workshop last month, which not only helped me write better but read with more awareness and understanding and determine whether something I’m reading is biased, informative, or insightful. This has proven to be an important skill in both my academic endeavours and hobby of writing comedy.
Another very significant professional development workshop I attended was the Advanced Excel class. Not every small office in Nepal can afford to work with automated softwares and developing a system on Excel was one of my most significant skills at the last place I worked at.
We look forward to sharings more stories of how your support is helping young women like me to suceed in their careers.
Sincerely,
Rajina
