On November 16, 2024, Women LEAD Nepal hosted an important Social Audit event and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Sangrila Blu Hotel, Lalitpur. This event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including local government representatives, like-minded organizations, project participants, board members, and Social Welfare Council representatives. The goal of the Social Audit was to foster trust and accountability within the organization by openly sharing updates on ongoing projects, financial transparency, and the challenges the organization has faced while also evaluating the overall social impact of our work. The AGM provided an opportunity for board members and stakeholders to review the organization’s annual performance, discuss key strategic goals for the upcoming year, and ensure alignment with our mission and vision. It was crucial to reflect on our progress, address any challenges, and plan for continued growth and impact.
Prior to the actual social audit, board members, general members, and staff of Women LEAD Nepal attended social audit training facilitated by expert Nirmal B. The training emphasized transparency, accountability, and community engagement, equipping us with the necessary skills to evaluate and improve initiatives for greater social welfare and ethical practices effectively.
The Social Audit was attended by Hima B., Executive Director of Women LEAD Nepal; Punam N., Elected Member of Ward 5 in Lalitpur Metropolitan City; and Deependra P., Director of the Social Welfare Council, who all also addressed the participants.
During the AGM, general members actively engaged by asking questions on various topics. These inquiries covered a range of issues, including the organization’s financial status, future projects, and ongoing initiatives. Members sought clarification on the allocation of resources, the effectiveness of current programs, and the organization’s long-term goals.
Looking ahead, Women LEAD Nepal remains committed to its mission of empowering young women and creating a lasting social impact. The Social Audit and AGM have reinforced the importance of transparency, community engagement, and continuous feedback in driving the organization’s growth. We look forward to continuing our work with our stakeholders to build stronger relationships and achieve even greater success in the years to come.
