Youth Crime Watch of Liberia intends to launch a leadership and accountability project for school-going and out of school young girls. The program seeks to use the initial participation of young females in school and community governance as an entry point to increase their participations in school and community level decision-making while at the same time preparing them for political participation at community and national levels. project is to prepare 60 young women for advocacy and leadership
At the National Legislature, it is surprising to note that of the 102 elected legislators from both House of Senate and Representatives, only 6 are women. Liberia with its huge women population growth does not have a structured program for females who desire to run for political office. Research stress on the growth and execution of customized training on leadership/governance to enable women to acquire fundraising, advocacy and professional skills to participate in electoral politics.
YCWL will provide tailored capacity building trainings in leadership, advocacy, campaign, etc. and as well provide support system for female aspirants and candidates on how to run for elective offices in their community, college or school general elections.
Youth Crime Watch of Liberia believes that engaging young people, will better prepare them to understand the rudiments of leadership and political participation and help propel them for social and political copes through of Liberia. It will also make them understand how leadership affects people and enhances their advocacy and representation with hands-on experience.
