Frontline Staff Continue their Work Amid COVID-19

PHASE Frontline health workers has been proving 24 hours emergency services, regular OPD services, child delivery, ANC checks and COVID-19 prevention works from 15 different himalayan health posts it supports in remote location of Sindhupalchok, Gorkha, Humla, Mugu and Bajura.

The team which ealier supported COVID-19 vaccination in different working location is also currently assisting Nepal governments' new lot of COVID-19 vaccination programme aimed for the people aged 45 and above in places like Gorkha. PHASE Nepal health workers are proving to be rare manpower to provide skilled services as such as vaccination in the remote.

Recently, we have brought the Verocell (SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine) in the cold boxed to our village which cannot be stored for long. It is a relief that PHASE's skilled staff have been providing providing their time and efforts in the inoculation of the jab to the general public in quick and efficient manner. The best pad of working with PHASE is that they are very experienced-I appreciate that they are maintaining strict infection prevention guidelines during these vaccination camps too." While the staff are giving their best in the field. PHASE Management team is making sure that they themselves do not get infected. With generous support from donors like you we are working our best to keep our health staff are safe. We have made sure that all of our 15 mountanous stations have enough antizen testing kits, emergency medices and personal protective equipments. All our 40+ health staff have already received the both the doses of COVID-19 vaccines and are all fine. In case of any infection or complication we are standby to provide emergency support that has been made possible from the funds received from the people who donate in the project like this one.

Frontline workers receive 1st dose of Vaccines.

Dear Supporters,

In this update we would like to share a good news that our frontline staff specially health workers have got an opportunity to receive the 1st dose of Covid- 19 vaccine (Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 ). Here is a short note of thanks from the PHASE Nepal's Executive Director Dr. Jiban Karki

Special note from the Execute Director.

I would like to express my sincere thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Nepal Government, Ministry of Health, Department of Health Services and its line agencies in the province, districts and local levels, hospitals, primary health care centres and health posts for providing an opportunity to get the 1st dose of covid-19 vaccine to PHASE Nepal's health staff and frontline workers.

By the first week of March, 123 members of PHASE staff and the Executive Board have already received the vaccine in the 1st round. I hope the remaining 38 members from the staff and the Executive Board will also get the vaccinations soon. We are further motivated to continue our work to strengthen the primary health care services in hard-to¬reach areas and vulnerable communities further supporting them with better education, livelihoods, disaster resilience, and research initiatives.

We are also grateful to all of our supporters in this difficult time.

This recognition and support from the government has been possible because of your genereous contribution in our project activities. Your support enabled us to play the role of one of the lead NGOs to providing esential health services in the remote himalayan communities, thus being recognized as the team eligible to receive the vaccine in the first lot.

Although the 1st dose of vaccines has been provided the risk of infection is always there expecially when the cases are rising in our neighbouring countries like India at the moment. Therefore, we have been extremely careful and have been maintaining strick protocols in running the project activities in the communities such as wearing a mask, making the partipants wear a mask , maintaining social distancing and hand sanitizing.

PHASE Nepal will continue to provide its essential services in the remote communities and expresses thanks to all the donors who have contributed to this project to set up funds to support the front line healthworkers.
