Dear Friend,
Nepal is dedicated to providing essential services such as basic primary health care, safe motherhood care, livelihoods improvement, and many other community development activities. To ensure that our health workers and team can continue serving the most vulnerable, we have initiated efforts aimed at providing sustainable support for their needs. Thanks to your continued support, we can sustain our efforts and share case studies that highlight the impact of this initiative. Here is one such example.
Junita Malla ( name changed) is a 26-year-old mother living in a poor economic condition. She recently completed a 9-month antenatal care (ANC) checkup, but her challenges were far from over. With a 14-month-old daughter, another daughter aged 6, and a 4 year -old son, Junita faced severe malnutrition due to her pregnancy and lack of proper food. Her 14-month-old daughter weighed only 4.5 kg, standing at 65 cm tall with a MUAC of 8.9 cm.
During a home visit by the PHASE Nepal team in Ward 10 of Mugu district, the health workers assessed the growth of her children and provided much-needed support. They taught Junita and her husband how to prepare Sarbottam lito ( Super flour) and encouraged them to feed their daughter whenever she was hungry. PHASE Nepal also distributed essential materials, including rice, wheat, beans, ghee, chickpeas, and oil, to families like Junita's, who were suffering from malnutrition and economic hardship.
With regular visits and guidance from the PHASE Nepal team, Junita’s children showed remarkable improvement. Her son, who was initially 15 months old and severely underweight, gained weight and grew healthier. Junita herself took better care of her health, resulting in a healthy newborn weighing 3 kg. Her family expressed deep gratitude for the support, education, and resources provided by PHASE Nepal.
We are deeply grateful for your continued support. Your contributions enable us to provide essential services to those in need. We remain committed to our mission and will continue our efforts to improve health outcomes in remote areas.
Thank you
PHASE Nepal Team
