Overview
The Egyptian Food Bank (EFB) prioritizes crisis relief for Palestinian refugees facing extreme hardship and uncertainty as a result of ongoing regional conflicts. Our mission extends beyond the provision of meals; we aim to ensure sustained access to essential nutrition that enables individuals and families to cope with displacement and adapt to their new lives in Egypt. Food assistance is delivered through flexible modalities tailored to beneficiaries’ needs and circumstances, including: Monthly food boxes Purchase vouchers Hot meals These approaches allow EFB to respond rapidly while preserving dignity and choice for refugee households.
Due to escalating regional conflicts, a significant number of Palestinians have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in Egypt. Many arrive with minimal resources, limited income opportunities, and restricted access to basic services. Food insecurity is one of the most urgent and immediate challenges they face, directly affecting health, well-being, and their ability to stabilize during displacement.
Refugee families—particularly children, elderly individuals, and women-headed households—are at heightened risk of malnutrition and negative coping mechanisms without timely assistance.
Our Solution
The Egyptian Food Bank’s intervention provides immediate and lifesaving food assistance to Palestinian refugees to meet their daily nutritional requirements and maintain basic health.
Through monthly food boxes, vouchers, and freshly prepared hot meals, EFB alleviates the burden of food insecurity, reduces stress on vulnerable families, and allows refugees to focus on resettlement, accessing services, and rebuilding their lives.
Distribution is carried out according to EFB’s verified beneficiary registration and distribution plans, ensuring transparency, accountability, and equitable reach.
Long-Term Impact
By ensuring reliable access to food, EFB helps refugee families regain a sense of stability and security during a period of profound uncertainty. Adequate nutrition supports physical health, emotional resilience, and the ability of individuals to integrate into their host communities.Over time, this sustained support reduces dependency on negative coping strategies and contributes to improved well-being, dignity, and self-reliance among Palestinian refugees in Egypt.
Continued support from donors is critical to expanding and sustaining this response. Every contribution directly translates into nutritious meals and essential food support for families who have lost almost everything. Together, we can help Palestinian refugees survive today and rebuild for tomorrow.
