At 3Generations we continue to collect and spread the stories we have gathered from genocide survivors.
Genocide has occurred in every era of human history, and it up to us to raise awareness about its causes and effects to prevent systematic violence.
The narratives of genocide survivors inform how they internalize the event and their world view, which they pass on to future generations. We are committed to collecting these stories with compassion and respect, and aid in the healing process of survivors and their families.
Our three areas of focus are:
The U.N. defines genocide as a crime with the intention to destory, in whole or in part, a national, racial, ethnic, or religious group. Unfortunately today, the remnants of genocide are active agents in political conflicts.
We are raising awareness of the effects of the Syrian Civil War on refugees, and how their dislacement is currently influencing their familial and cultural ties.
We continue to gather stories of Native American tribal members who remember the massacres of their families, and the cultural genocide they experienced in boarding schools and displacement. Today, Native Americans are in the midst of defending their values and rights to the U.S. government at Standing Rock.
The on-going crisis in Darfur is always on our radar, as systematic violence is still used as a political tool. The world needs to know 3.2 million people in Darfur currently need humanitarian assistance.
Our focus on individuals helps survivors feel empowered telling their stories, and helps us communicate directly with our audience that the suffering of one is the suffering of many.
