The Ishahayi Beach School Foundation funds a school serving 230 students. It is the only school located on the island. Without this school most of these children would not get educated as parents can't afford the transport costs to government schools o the mainland. Funding has been increasingly hard to get due to economic conditions. Your donations will help keep the school running for another school year.
Ishahayi is a small Yoruba fishing village located on the barrier island between Lagos and Badagry. It is only accessible by boat and isolated from the infrastructure and support that mainland areas of Lagos enjoy, such as a government-funded school. Over the years the school has been funded by generous expats and local businesses. Unfortunately, with fewer expats and businesses struggling due to the tough economic conditions, the school is at risk if we do not raise enough funds
The funds raised are used primarily for the day-to-day running of the school. This includes paying teachers, scholarships for children (over 50% of village families are unable to afford school fees which are minimal), books, uniforms, etc
You know the impact of education - education equal opportunities and possibilities. Without it these children are doomed to a life of poverty without any opportunity.
