Save the Children of Mbale, France, supports a child care home for 50 orphans and 70 single,vulnerable Mothers, called Mbale Child Care Foundation. MCCF provides basic daily necessities. Our goal is to create sustainable solutions that encourage self-reliance through empowerment projects for the community Mothers to learn trades for their independance, keeping families together. Additionally, MCCF aspires to expand on land of their own, creating programs and expanding sustainability efforts.
Nearly half of all deaths in children under 5 are attributable to undernutrition according to Unicef. A majority of child abandonment is due to vulnerable, single family homes. It's a challenge for MCCF to invest in empowerment vocational projects for single Mothers when they're struggling to thrive, keep the children healthy and educated. This project provides support needed for sustainability efforts to improve the living conditions for 300 people in the community.
Once MCCF provides sufficiently for their children, the project will permit additional investment in our empowerment programs. Farming will provide food for 50 children and 70 Mothers and their families. Revenue cash crops will be received. Our tailoring project will produce clothing and generate revenue. These skills will lead to viable professions that create self-reliance and a decrease in child abandonment. This project will transform an impoverished community to a favorable evolution.
Self worth replaces despair. Pride will replace insecurity. Keeping families together changes the community and decreases child abandonment. Giving the Mothers and children a safe place to learn self-reliance skills for their sustainability. Additionally, purchasing land for MCCF will allow for growth for expansion. Investing in diverse vocational workshops will transform our community of 300 with viable professions, an opportunity to earn on their own, and collectively build a better future.
