Progress Update: Advancing Community-Led Peace Efforts in Syria

By Faiz Alali | Projects Leader

Hello,

We are pleased to share an update on our ongoing work to establish Syria’s Local Peace Resources Network—an initiative led by the community and facilitated by Peace Revival to strengthen resilience and promote long-term stability.

In our latest consultative session, we brought together local organizations, volunteer groups, and community initiatives working in capacity-building, skills development, and entrepreneurship. The discussion highlighted the increasing importance of economic empowerment in fostering social cohesion and reducing tensions within communities.

Participants explored how expanding livelihood opportunities for youth and women, supporting small community enterprises, and investing in practical practical skills can help create stronger, more resilient communities. The session also provided space for sharing practical experiences in vocational training, business incubation, and community-based economic projects that enable families to rebuild their lives.

The dialogue emphasized the vital role of capacity-building and entrepreneurship actors within the emerging Peace Resources Network. Their work promotes self-reliance, encourages active community engagement, and offers positive pathways that enable individuals—especially young people—to contribute to development and peace.

Together, participants discussed how to design a flexible and inclusive network that places economic empowerment at the core of community resilience and conflict prevention.

These ongoing conversations reaffirm that sustainable peace grows where opportunities exist. Supporting local actors who build skills, strengthen livelihoods, and champion entrepreneurship is essential to shaping a more stable and peaceful future across Syria.

Thank you for being part of this important journey. Your support continues to empower communities across Syria as they work toward resilience and lasting peace.

Warm regards,
