The extent of the poverty in Poland in 2023
Year by year, the level of poverty in Poland increases. The events of recent years such as the rise in inflation, the energy crisis and the economic impact of pandemics have only exacerbated this problem. The consequence of this is an increase in the number of Families in financial distress. In 2023 alone, the extent of extreme poverty in households increased from 4.6% to 6.6%. The research shows that 3% of Poles cannot afford basic purchases. 5 % of Poles do not buy meat, fish and fruit. Buying prescription drugs is an insurmountable problem for 8% of Poles.
The story of Mrs. Marzena who suffers from rheumatism:
Sometimes it hurts a lot, but I cannot afford the medicine, so I treat myself with a smile. When was the last time I cried? At the store at the sight of a can of meat that I couldn’t afford. And I like it so much... It was silly for me to cry for such a reason.

Noble Gift is a unique place that connects those who want to bring help - Donors and Volunteers - with those who need this help the most - Families in difficult life situations. In this special programme, the key role is played by Noble Gift Volunteers - extraordinary people who devote their free time to bring Smart Aid to those most in need.
The Noble GiftVolunteersarepeople of differentages, with different life experiences and differenthistories, whoare united by a commongoal - to help the other person. Everyyear, Volunteersplay a key role, in the process of supportingFamilies in need. They stand on the firstline of the fightagainstpoverty - theymeet with Families (whohavebeenenteredinto the program), devotetheirfreetime to them, listen to theirstories, and on the basis of whichtheyincludeFamilies in the ongoingedition of the program. Allthisis in order to reach with Smart Aid thosewhoreallyneedit. In the nextstage, the Volunteerstake on the role of guardian and intermediary, between the Donor and the Family for whichtheyhavecommitted to prepare a package. During the giftpreparationprocess, the Volunteersupports the Donors by answeringtheirquestions and consulting theirdoubts with the Family, sothat the giftcould be the most personalizedassistancepossible, responding to the Family'sneeds. Finally, during the most magical weekend of the year - the Weekend of Miracles - Volunteershandover the packages to the Families, changingtheirworld for good.
In 2023 alone, we recruited and trainedmorethan 12,000 Volunteerswhoprovidedtheircare to morethan 17,000 Families in Need.
Mr. Daniel’s story
Mr. Daniel, carryinggifts from his car to hishome with the Volunteers, was veryintimidated. He did not speak. His twodaughters Daria and Maja, whom he takescare of himself, stood in the kitchenwatchingall the commotion. As theyunpackedmorepackages, Mr. Daniel began to smile.
Daria, afterdiscoveringchocolatecerealshapedlikeballs in one of the boxes, asked: "Dad, can we havecereal for dinner tonight?". When the girlsaw the multitude of toys, sheapproachedherdad and whispered: "Daddy, can I tellyousomething? I love you," huggingherfather. Maja, holding teacups in herhand, said: "We'regoing to have a teddybear party!" Theybothclappedtheirhands with joywhentheysaw the dollhouse.
Mr. Daniel said: "I'mabout to cry." He was verysurprised by the extent of the help. Among the gifts, he alsoreceived a voucher to a constructionstore to renovatehisroom. "Thankyouso much for yourhelp! Now I won'tsleep, becauseI'll be planningwhat to buy."Afterwhich he added, "Youguysaregreat. Thanks to you, I knowthat my daughters and I are not alone."
