According to our statistics, the up to 90% of youths we serve encounter more difficulties in finance than normal families. Thus, the Mustard Seed Mission not only provides living expenses subsidies to these youths in need, but also provides a four-year training program to help young people understand themselves, improve their inner abilities, and then have the self-confidence to face the future more positively. The expected number of beneficiaries is 150.
According to the 2020 Human Resources Survey and Statistics by the Accounting and General Office of the Executive Yuan, there are 203,000 unemployed youths under the age of 29, accounting for 44.32% of all unemployed. Among them, 73.65% have a college degree or above, and more than 40% of young people encounter the difficulties of "lack of experience", "not knowing which job they are suitable for" and "lack of skills" when applying for a job for the first time.
The youths we serve face a series of problems such as inefficient self-confidence, lack of abilities of communication, personal interaction, and adaption in the workplace. It affects their career planning and selection. Thus, MSM offers a student grant program to help the economically disadvantaged individuals participating in the training program to reduce the economic pressure and enhance their abilities and self-confidence in dealing with multiple affairs in order to wider their careers.
The project is expected to be implemented in five areas of Taiwan, serving a total of 150 underprivileged college youths, and it is expected that 80% of the participants participating in the project will complete their college studies.
