Taking environmental education to the next level!

By Jennifer Joyner | Environmental Education Coordinator

Projects of 2022-2023 school year!

The latest updates

It has been an exciting year for Escuela de Los Algarrobos! We’ve been able to introduce exciting new curriculum augmenting our school’s dedication to educate our students about the world around them! Our foundation’s goal of educating future global citizens though understanding our relationship to the natural world has been a success thanks to the generosity of our doners on the GlobalGiving platform.

Thanks to the support of the GlobalGiving community Los Algarrobos has created on- going environmental education projects since the beginning of the 2022 school year. The school has hosted regular beach cleaning events integrating our curriculum of the role of plastics in ocean health for our costal community.

Additionally we have further integrated our small Ecuadorian costal community with our environmental goals by creating a public garden space. Where students began learning about the food production system organic gardening and the importance of community participation.

Students have dedicated time and effort to long term educational projects throughout the school year. One such endeavor is an ongoing educational journey through food production and after the community garden project we were fortunate enough to organize a field trip to Finca Orgainca de Rio Muchacho. A dedicated and knowledgeable resource for our students to learn not only about permaculture and sustainable food production but the dedication it takes to build a community changing project on a grand scale.

On behalf of Escuela De Los Algarrobos we thank  our doners for making this years environmental education projects possible!

Best Regards,

Jennifer Joyner
