Charity and Empowerment Foundation (CEF) support children in rural villages of South Sudan to access primary education through the construction of fit latrines and hand-washing facilities, and hygiene promotion campaign. Through construction of fit latrines and hand-washing facilities, and hygiene promotion campaign, we are helping 9,344 children from 34 primary schools in Northern Bahr El Ghazal to achieve their dream of bright future.
In many rural villages in South Sudan, lack of proper sanitation and hygiene are the most causes of variety of diseases affecting the population. Due to poor sanitation and hygienic environment, there is prevalence of diarrheal diseases affecting school children and high dropped out rate of schoolgirls.
CEF construct fit latrines and hand-washing facilities in primary schools and conduct hygiene promotion campaign to change the community behaviors toward hygiene and sanitation. By constructing fit latrines and hand-washing facilities, and raising awareness for hygiene promotion, we are transforming lives and build a bright future of many people. Incidents of diarrheal diseases and the drop-out rates for schoolgirls have reduced and many children have completed their primary education
By investing resources on the construction of latrines and hand-washing facilities and promoting hygiene and sanitation, we not only prevent school children contract diseases and drop-out of schools, but we empower them to be agents of change in their communities. These school children bring concepts and practices in respect to sanitation and hygiene back to their families
