Rural communities in Honduras face immense challenges. For many young adults, completing primary and secondary education feels like an uphill battle, and the dream of higher education seems out of reach. This project is dedicated to changing that narrative by empowering over 50 young adults in Intibuca and surrounding areas with vocational skills and supporting them as they launch their own microbusinesses. By equipping them, we are fostering self reliance, economic growth and a brighter future.
According to the World Population Review (2022) the rural areas in Honduras have been disproportionally affected by poverty. It is almost impractical for them to pursue a college education due to the high cost of higher education. To address this urgent need, the team of our nonprofit organization collaborated with the team of Shoulder-to-Shoulder organization to initiate this project that would benefit the young adults of Intibuca and its surroundings.
This project will empower over 50 young adults to learn a vocational skill which will enable them to find a job and to create their own microbusiness ventures. We will cover the training fees as well as expenses such as equipment, transportation, and educational materials. Additionally, we plan to support community educational events that community resilience and microbusiness ventures.
Working together to support the underserved will benefit everyone in our interconnected world. This project is designed to help over 50 young adults acquire vocational skills and inspire them to start their own microbusinesses through our sponsorship programs and community educational events. These efforts will promote self-reliance, instill hope, and strengthen community resilience, leading to poverty reduction and serving as a steppingstone towards facilitating access to higher education.
