  • Meats:Made into jerky
  • Tomatoes and peppers:Made into salsa
  • Dairy:Made into ice cream, butter, cream, yogurt, cheese, and whey products
  • Organic produce:Made into juices, smoothies, and snacks
Benefits of value-added agricultural products
  • They can increase the demand and marketability of agricultural produce
  • They can align with consumer preferences for quality, form, space, time, and identity
  • They can provide convenient and nutritious options for health-conscious consumers
Process of value addition
  • Value addition involves developing a product from raw materials
  • This can be done by changing ingredients or processing technologies

Muthukrishnan, Dhanalakshmi, Raamaiyah, Periyasamy are preparing lemon garlands which are used for Pooja's in temples. They are also preaparing lemoande and selling during the summer season. Rani and Selvi are processing Tamarind and selling it in the local market so that consumers can use it for one year maximum. This is a major source of income and they are meeting their children's education needs and grocery expenses for the family.
