Teach 3500 Girls, Reusable Sanitary Pad Making

Project Report | Feb 11, 2026
Laying Foundation for Dignity and School Retention

By Ikechukwu Kelechukwu | Project Lead

Dear Supporters,

We are excited to share the first update on our project to train 3,500 underserved girls to produce safe, reusable sanitary pads while receiving menstrual health education.

Although we have just begun and currently have 1 generous donor supporting this initiative, important groundwork has already started.

What We’ve Done So Far

Community consultations have begun in underserved communities within Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
We are identifying schools and community centers that will serve as safe training locations.
Our team is finalizing training materials covering menstrual hygiene management, reproductive health basics, and pad production techniques.
We are engaging local female facilitators and health educators to ensure culturally sensitive delivery.

Why This Matters

In our preliminary discussions, several school leaders confirmed that many girls miss classes every month due to lack of sanitary products. Some girls stay home for 3–5 days each cycle, significantly affecting academic performance and confidence.

Beyond absenteeism, menstrual stigma continues to silence conversations around girls’ health—limiting knowledge, safety, and dignity.

This project is designed not only to provide reusable pad kits but also to empower girls with practical skills and health education that will serve them for years.

What Happens Next

With your support, the next phase will include

  • Procurement of safe, reusable materials for pad production

  • Launch of the first 5 training sessions

  • Distribution of reusable pad starter kits

  • Baseline tracking of school attendance among participating girls

Our goal is to begin the first training cohort as soon as funding milestones are reached.

How You Can Help

This project aims to reach 3,500 girls, but it begins one step at a time. Your support will:

  • Keep girls in school

  • Restore dignity and confidence

  • Break menstrual stigma

  • Provide sustainable, eco-friendly solutions

If you believe no girl should miss school because of her period, please consider sharing this project with your network.

Together, we are building dignity, education, and opportunity—one girl at a time.

With gratitude,
Empower Future Initiative
