This project will provide help furnish our brand new Art Centre which will offer art classes to over 460 rural children and youth in our After-school Programme.
Most rural South African schools lack the funding or knowledge to provide art classes in school. Art is a vehicle for children to express themselves, overcome trauma, and develop critical thinking skills - yet most learners in our After-school Programme currently have no exposure to art at home or in school.
This project will allow us to furnish our brand new Art Centre with chairs, tables, and art supplies. The Centre will provide a safe space for over 460 children & youth in our After-school Programme to experience freedom of expression through art which will enable them to release emotional tension and overcome trauma.
By engaging in artistic activities, children are able to develop self-confidence and become curious, engaged learners who feel comfortable expressing themselves. Art spurs curiosity in learners about the world around them, encourages them to ask questions, and inspires them to voice their opinions and offer innovative solutions to problems.
