The TEACH Cote d'Ivoire Program aims to train 180 transformational teacher teachers in five years to impact the lives of 20,000 children from poor and disadvantaged backgrounds in Cote d'Ivoire, giving them the opportunity to have access to quality education. Focusing on leadership, Teach Cote d'Ivoire project aims to help end the inequalities and inequities in the Ivorian educational system so that all children, irrespective of their socio-economic background, can access to quality education
The problems that TEACH Cote d'Ivoire is trying to solve are: 26% of 6-16 year olds are not in school (in 2015) 39.6% of children do not complete their primary education 93% of children do not finish secondary school Only around 25% of pupils who complete primary education have a satisfactory level in mathematics 70% of students in the second year (CM2) average course cannot read. Children from low-income communities are 2.6 times less likely than their peers from wealthy backgrounds
TEACH Cote d'Ivoire is considering a solution, both short and long term. - In the short term, it will be a question of acting directly on the students from the classroom to develop the potential that exists in them and improve their academic results, through the training of transformational leading teachers. - In the long term, it will be a question of achieving a profound change in the education system through structural reforms. This is thanks to the establishment of a network of change agent.
The TEACH Cote d'Ivoire Program aims to train, over five years, 180 transformational leader teachers to impact the lives of 20,000 children from poor and disadvantaged backgrounds in Cote d'Ivoire, giving them the opportunity to have access to quality education. TEACH Ivory Coast intends to come to an organization on a national scale after 3 years of exercise.
