RADIO SCHOOL WITH ZENU CHILDREN

By MARINELA ORTIZ | CEPALC processes has helped me to be happy

Indigenous children from communities Calle Larga, Cruz Chiquita, Cruz de Guayabo, Gardenias belonging to San Andres and Tuchín cabildos have been participating in series workshops on children's rights and social values. In these workshops they learn meaning concept rights, concept that did not exist in their lives. They learn that they have education, health, family, recreation, good treatment rights. They also learn to report violence and abuse that adults in family and communities commit against them.

These workshops have been complemented with other radio journalism workshops. We are creating radio school with indigenous children. On Calle Larga they have a radio booth or studio where they are starting to produce their own radio programs. These programs address issues such as defense and promotion of children's rights; denounces sexual abuse and the right of children to say NO to the violence that adults want to commit against them; environmental care and defense; values to build peace in Colombia; ethnic, religious, cultural minority rights.

These programs are beginning to be transmitted by indigenous radio stations San Andrés and Tuchín.

Our children are becoming journalists in their communities; in small great community leaders building peace and social solidarity from the radio.
