The First Report of 2020

Hello everyone, it is a pleasure to write to you again in this new year, full of dreams and goals to fulfill. I hope you are well so that you can enjoy how we started the trainings and classes with our teachers, and children.

During the third week of January, we attended the training we have annually before starting the school year, it was very good. This focused on what children learn in Reading-Writing and how we can improve our teaching methods in the area of Communication and Language, so that children get better prepared for elementary school.

Something very important that we also learned was how to improve our tools when evaluating. The group of teachers in Santo Domingo Xenacoj took care of this part in the training; and let me tell you that they made a very good presentation. The preparation of the whole group was noted as they made a very summary of the national base curriculum used in our country to plan.

We had the pleasant visit of our dear founder Fred Zambroski; like all years. Fred expressed his excitement for starting the year, the hard work that our teachers do in different communities and the goal of expanding more this year to reach communities with more need for preschool education.

Liza also arrived, representative of the organization that gives us the atoll or the nutritious drink called “Chispuditos”. He showed us the progress that is being made with children thanks to this nutritious drink and new ideas on how to prepare it. We were encouraged to make this same presentation with our group of parents in the different communities where we are, because they will better understand the importance of having their children drink this drink.

We hope that, for the next training, in July; we can meet all the goals we have set as a group, both to improve our activities and our work; To make it more professional.

For this year we made contact with the organization of WINGS, an entity that is in charge of giving mothers, talks about Family Planning and accessibility to improve on it.

On January 20, we started classes at our different educational centers, with new children and places, eager to put into practice everything we learned in our training.

"End of the 2019 school year"

Pamanzana community!

We are very happy and satisfied to finish another year, at the same time also sad to say goodbye to our 6 year old boys, who next year begin their first grade of primary school.

We have had very good results in all our schools, as we told you at the beginning of the year, we set ourselves the goal of improving more and using the Learning Centers in a more effective way; And thanks to that we meet our goals.

The support of the Parents certainly played a very important role in the education of their children, the support and help they provided to each of our teachers served a lot for the community and each of its families.

This year we closed children in the 23 schools, we got 6-year-olds to learn to read, write, count, add, subtract, etc ... In the training we had in July, it also helped us to improve the use of the Centers of Learning; the changes in children were quite noticeable both in their development and in their attitude. They developed very well the 4 developments of the Creative Curriculum (Socioemotional, Physical, Cognitive and Linguistic), this made it possible for them to learn to defend their rights, respect and take care of each of the materials and the environment in each corner; to play with their peers without problem, follow instructions and routines in class, and demonstrate safety and independence when making decisions.

I think that this year we accomplished a lot and we hope to continue next year, that is why we thank all the sponsors and people who support us every year with their donations; the truth is that they are not only contributing to improve the education of children, but also to improve their life and that of their family, but especially for the country.

For the other year we have the goal of reaching more rural areas in the different departments in the country, but for this we will need your support and collaboration. We hope to fulfill it and continue providing quality education for the children of Guatemala.

"Patriotic month"

"Freedom is something that is earned and obtained, not given away"

Guatemala is a very cultural country and full of traditions, that is why we want to tell you all about the activities that our teachers carried out, regarding the Independence Day. This year 198 years of independence were completed, which indicates that we are close to reaching 100.

September is known as the patriotic month, since most of the activities carried out during this month have to do with the date of independence. We also take the opportunity to teach you more about the culture of the country, the symbols that represent the country, history and civics.

Most of our teachers perform a parade or civic walk, on a theme of conscience or that has to do with independence, in their community. In the images you will notice what I am talking about here.

Children learn more about the variety of ethnicities and people we inhabit in this country, also about the symbols that represent the country; as they are: the Ceiba, the Monja Blanca, the Escudo, the Quetzal, the Marimba, the Flag and Tecún Umán; a brave man who fought against Don Pedro de Alvarado, for his people and thus achieve independence.

We had to use a lot of imagination and creativity to carry out the activities for this month, for example: some of our teachers made crafts on symbols, worksheets and other posters in small groups to have a better learning.

Fathers and Mothers also participated and supported their children in these activities, without a doubt their help was also key to get the children to develop better. The children of the community of Cerritos in Patzicía-Chimaltenango, had a lot of fun and will be able to notice in the images how the mothers supported our teacher and how creative she was with her children ...

Guatemala is a multicultural and multicultural country, which has beautiful landscapes; That is why we invite everyone to visit this beautiful country, so they can enjoy biodiversity. And of course you can appreciate all this, when visiting our children and teachers in each of their communities, please do so, and you will notice the need and support we need to continue teaching and training good children; so they have a better future ...
