Take care of the planet, don't destroy it!

Earth Day hike

It is a pleasure to greet you again, thank you always for the support you give us; there is no doubt that you are part of the change that our children need for their future.

As you know during the months of April and June, we celebrate "Earth Day and Environment Day"; with the aim of raising awareness of the damage we do to the planet with pollution and to do activities to take care of it, we dedicate enough time to investigate, learn and recycle. And this year was no exception, each of our teachers did a different activity to teach them the importance of the planet for human beings.

Some of us took a walk with posters to remind people in our community of practical ways to contribute to taking care of the Earth; for example, by not littering, saving water and electricity, planting trees and recycling at home. Others made handicrafts using tree leaves, stones, sticks, etc.

These activities have helped us to instill in our children the importance of taking care of everything around them and respecting the Earth, which is our home.

This year, we obtained support to make school gardens in the different communities where we are located. It has been easy in the areas where there are gardens, because some parents have made their plot available to do so. However, there are places where it has not been possible to do it; therefore, we are working with planters. Thanks to the help of Elizabet, who is in charge of visiting the communities and making their respective vegetable gardens, there are schools that are already planting for the second time. Some of them have already made a vegetable salad with what they harvested.

The children and parents are very happy with this activity, because in addition to reinforcing many subjects, we are teaching the children to be responsible and to take care of their own crops. Now that winter has begun in our country, we hope to harvest even more.

Amazingly, we are about to finish the sixth month of the year and we still have a lot to do with our children. Therefore, next month we will have our second training with the teachers; which we hope will be a success with that of the beginning of the year. We are trying to incorporate new topics and continue to learn from the skills we have. We look forward to reporting more in our next report.

As always, it is a pleasure to write to you and tell you about our progress and activities; many thanks to all our donors! Your contribution is life for our program. Please continue to support us so that we can continue to improve the future of our children...
