Meet Marta, a very capable girl.

By Margarita Bejarano | Teacher

This is Marta.
This is Marta.

Hello, sponsors! It's always a pleasure to greet you and tell you more about what we're doing with the children at Let's Be Ready.

It's hard to believe that we are already six months into the school year with only three months left. During this time, we have learned a lot from our children, and we continue to improve our teaching techniques to make our children's learning more practical and meaningful.

Marta is one example of how we have developed her skills and found new methods. She is a five-year-old girl who attends one of our community centers in "Cruz Ayapan", San Juan Sacatepéquez. Her teacher, Abigaíl, started working with us this year. Abigaíl tells us that Marta's case is special because she was born with a malformation in her left hand. Despite this, Marta is very active and independent, and her skills are on par with those of other children her age. She only has difficulty with certain activities, such as untying a bag or unbuttoning buttons.

Getting to this point was not easy. Due to her condition, some children did not treat her well, and her self-esteem was low. She hid her hand from everyone whenever she could. However, regular attendance at school and her teacher's support helped her gain self-confidence and accept herself. A lot of work was also done with the other children to cultivate values such as respect, appreciation, and love for others.

Although this process took time and patience, Marta has proven herself capable of achieving her goals. Our teacher, Abigaíl, has been part of these changes and achievements thanks to the activities she does with her students.

We always need your support and contributions to continue providing a fun, quality education that instills good moral values. Our goal is to help each child develop as an individual and, in turn, contribute to their community with the skills they acquire. This way, we all progress together. We thank those who already contribute for their generosity; they are an essential part of our program. However, we must continue to move forward and reach more communities because children need us. That is why we need your continued support to be part of the change in the lives and future of our children.
