This year, we have set ourselves the goal of having a “school garden” at each of the Let's be Ready centers. So Benjamin, who is in charge of the gardens, worked with each of the teachers, children, and parents.
The goal of this project is to promote good nutrition and encourage children to interact with nature. School gardens are a valuable tool for raising awareness about good nutrition among children and parents, as they allow them to acquire basic agricultural knowledge and develop skills such as planting, watering, respect and responsibility in caring for plants, as well as teamwork.
It has been a process of effort and dedication, as not all schools have enough space to plant and harvest crops. Thanks to Benjamin's ideas, gardens have been created in every community.
The children loved the project because, although in some places it is common to plant and harvest vegetables and legumes, starting this process of preparing the soil, planting, caring for the plants, and harvesting was another achievement for their development. In addition to adapting different classroom topics to the gardens, such as numbers, teamwork, vocabulary, etc.
Each teacher realized how beneficial it is to have a garden. However, we still have a long way to go, as we need support with more seeds, tools such as watering cans, shovels, gardening gloves, etc. If you can help us obtain these materials, it would be fantastic.
We are deeply grateful to those who already support us with their contributions. Believe me, you make a difference in each of our communities. Thank you very much! May God bless everything you do and your unconditional love for your neighbor.
See you soon.
