Assistive devices are external devices that are designed, made, or adapted to assist a person to perform a particular task. Many people with disabilities depend on assistive devices to enable them to carry out daily activities and participate actively and productively in community life.
In India only a very small percentage of intellectually challenged who require assistive devices and technologies have access to them. This can be attributed to low production and often of limited quality. Also, there are very few trained personnel and hiring costs are found to be prohibitive.
Access to assistive devices is essential for special children and is an important part of our development strategy. Without assistive devices, special children may never be educated or able to work, so the cycle of poverty continues. At Balajothi we use augmentative and alternative communication devices to assist children who have difficulty understanding and producing speech.
Through your generous donations we have been able to buy electronic assistive devices such as computers, I pads and key boards. These are of great use and the children are able to make good progress by raising their level of learning. THANK YOU DONOR for your generous giving of $ 406.51 which has been of immense help to our special children. We do look forward to your continuous giving to this cause. THANK YOU GLOBALGIVING for your support and help.
