Dear supporters,
We're grateful to provide you with another update on the progress of our work in Indonesia, especially focusing on the Urban Poor in Jakarta. Over the past few months, we've taken important steps forward that we would love to share with you.
Through our network, we were connected with several donors who share our vision and mission. With their financial support, we will be having a full 3 day training week, in at least two locations in the coming months. This will equip more than 15 new teachers (each serving at least 15 children) with the SSM curriculum, training on how to use it and teach effectively, and books for the children they work with.
We selected these teachers because they work with the Urban Poor in Jakarta, whether through a private learning platform or a mobile library, all focusing on the same target group: underprivileged (street) children of Jakarta. And through the teachers volunteering their time, these children have the opportunity to learn to read and begin developing a love for reading.
In the upcoming period, we'll be preparing for these training sessions. So in the next update, we hope to provide a positive report on the training which then took place. If you'd like to support our work in the meantime, you're more than welcome to do so. This way, we can spread the love for reading to even more children in Jakarta and beyond.
Salam Literasi,
Stuart Patience
