The kids and teens of Cabo San Lucas lack practical, professional training required to enter the workplace when they reach adulthood. This project will acquire and renovate a 40-foot shipping container to create an onsite, trades-training classroom to empower kids and teens living at Casa Hogar de Cabo San Lucas, our Social Assistance Center (orphanage). Trades include: hairdressing, sewing, bicycle repair, plumbing, carptentry and electrical.
The children and teens of Casa Hogar de Cabo San Lucas were victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment prior to being placed in our care. They are at high risk of falling back into the negative life patterns modelled to them at an early age. Hopelessness, despair and apathy are common obstacles to overcome. It is critical to equip the youth of our Center for success prior to turning 18-years-old, when they age-out of our program.
We are dedicated to restoring the rights of our children and teens as well as empowering them for success in the future to break the negative cycles in their families and communities of origin. The creation of an accessible trades-center will ensure that they receive practical, hands-on learning of skills that are in demand in our community, facilitating lucrative, employment opportunities, building confidence and contributing to a higher quality of life.
The project will invest into 40 children and teens per year that will grow up into productive, hardworking citizens, responsible spouses and role-model parents. It will provide a path out of poverty, improve the talent pool of our community and foster a positive example for new arrivals to our Center. The trades-center can be opened to the youth of the local community to extend its reach and positive impact.
