The Culinary Olympics has been going since 1900 - this is the First time ever that a Team with Disabilities will be taking part. We are arranging a fundraising Dinner on Friday 20th September 2019, in the Grand Banqueting Hall of Glasgow City Chambers, to raise funds towards the team participation.
This is the first time ever, that a team with a range of disabilities has managed to gain participation at the 'Culinary Olympics'. The world platform for displaying the highest skill abilities in all areas of culinary provision. Chefs with a range of disabilities always find it difficult to access the first step on a career in the industry, what better way to display their 'abilities' - than in the competitive environment of an 'Olympic' championships.
Supporting the training and team building as the chefs prepare to participate, will enable them to know that their skills are worthy. Changing perceptions have already started, the fact that the team have managed to gain access to participate, indicates that the abilities are not in question. This is an opportunity to display their 'Abilities' - even though they have to overcome their individual disabilities, they still achieve.
As the 'first ever' team to participate, they are paving the way for others to follow in the future. Opening a pathway to everyone thereafter, no matter what their range of disabilities may be, wishing to follow a career in the Hospitality industry. A long term impact 'phenomenal', that is why Rotary in Glasgow North and Bishopbriggs, support the team. To provide 'an education' in participation at the highest level and promote 'economic and community development' through sharing skills.
