Dear valued associates,

Happy New Year, may this new year bring you numerous positive experiences.

We are pleased to present our report, outlining the progress and achievements our organization has made in the last quarter. Your steadfast partnership and support have played a crucial role in our journey, and we believe this report provides valuable insights into our activities. We look forward with anticipation to the exciting opportunities that await us in the year 2024.

Please read below to see what we have been up to:

W.TEC Academy September – December Report (2023/2024 Academic Session)

  Lagos State:

  • Training: 222 girls were trained in scratch programming, video game design, mobile app development, and video editing across 10 schools.
  • Expansion: Partnership with Cummins West Africa introduced a new curriculum covering solar power technologies, enrolled 33 girls for this academic term.
  • Mentorship Program 61 girls from 3 schools participated, emphasizing the 3 Ps in tech: passion, perseverance, and persistence.
  • African Edutech Conference: 4 Academy girls excelled in the NBCC-organized competition.

 Kwara State and Ondo state:

  • Debate Session: 127 girls participated in discussing "The impact of digital education empowerment on the girl child: a burden or value of time."
  • The academic session witnessed an increase, with 299 girls registering, culminating in a total of 803 girls trained across 15 schools by the year's end.
  • In Ondo state, 160 girls trained in 5 schools for this academic session.

 

Special Events and Collaborations

  • Career Programme with Leadway Assurance: A one-day event centered on "Gender Diversity in the Digital Age: The Girl Child, Technology, and Insurance," attended by 28 W.TEC Academy girls, kwara state.
  • Workshop Collaboration:
  • STEM-METS and Stanbic Bank: Hosted a workshop, 50 girls in Kwara State embarked on a power bank project.

 Impact and Success

  • Diversification of Curriculum: Introduction of solar power tech training diversified the technical knowledge base for participants.
  • Achievement: Success at the African Edutech Conference showcased the quality of training and skills acquired by Academy girls.
  • Community Engagement: Active participation in career programs, mentorship session and debate sessions highlighted the Academy's commitment to broader societal dialogues on gender, education, and technology.
