Boys and Girls Club Tijuana will remodel a room for their 50 teenagers called Teen Center. This space will offer them a place away from the street risks where they will be giving the tools to develop their leadership skills and contibute to improve our community. Since the priority right know is securing the operating funds for the current cost of the Clubs in Tijuana, a Teen Center will not be possible without your help!
In Baja California 253,304 children and youth between 0 to 17 years old live in homes with some level of social vulnerability. In Boys and Girls Club this population reach their full potential through our programs, but we have noticed a decrease in the attending of our teen population because they start to feel there is no space inside the Club adapted to their needs. So they start dropping out their membership and ended exposed to streets risks such as violence and vandalism.
We recognize that in order to generate a greater sense of belonging and permanence in the Club, for this population it is necessary to provide them with a space suitable for their healthy recreation. Since this age is critical for the peer pressure they face, the feel of loneliness and misunderstanding, the exposure to alcohol, drugs, etc. This space will provide them the safeness they need, and a tutor guidance who will give the tools to solve their problems.
This project will provide a safe space for 50 teens each year, who will reflect solid values and a healthy lifestyle, which are educated as agents of change, influencing positively in their community.
This project has provided additional documentation in a PDF file (projdoc.pdf).
