In response to the devastating floods that struck Texas, GiveDirectly launched an emergency relief effort to support families most affected by the disaster. Through the overwhelming generosity of our donors, we delivered over $1.4 million to provide direct cash assistance to those in urgent need. Our goal was simple but powerful - to deliver fast, flexible support that would help families rebuild their lives on their own terms.
Thanks to your incredible generosity, 578 hard-hit Texas families have already received direct payments and are now on the road to recovery. These funds have helped families repair damaged homes, replace essential belongings, and cover immediate needs such as food, clothing, and transportation. 61% of recipients reported that GiveDirectly’s payment was their sole source of relief. This rapid response underscores the impact of unconditional cash aid: empowering survivors to make the choices that best support their recovery and resilience.
