Late April, our team on Lesvos set themselves the challenge of walking 50 km in one day in order to raise much needed funds for our project to continue. The team of four; Bonnie, Jack, Maeve and Yasmin walked from dawn to dusk admiring the breathtaking views the island has to offer. Halfway through and their bodies ached and poor Yasmin from France could no longer understand her Irish teammates’ accents but this didn’t bring spirits down and they smashed the challenge!
We really wanted to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your contribution in helping us raise 1,352 euros. The amount surpassed our expectations, and we truly are extremely grateful for your participation. This financial support has been instrumental in sustaining our community's sports initiatives. The funds raised from this event have played a crucial role in funding our activities in Lesvos, particularly paying the rent for our sports field which is our single biggest expense across the organisation.
By the way, having a team full of energy, we are already embarking on our next exciting challenge ! Stay tuned to take part in our Summer Swim Campaign, and try to swim 12 kilometres with your team to symbolise the distance many people travel from Turkey to Greece in search of a better life. Our fundraising page is coming soon !
