We put the purchased food (including rice, oil, grains and other basic foods) and the surplus food that we rescued (such as milk powder, etc.) into a beautiful food package, a total of 2500 copies, and gave them to the urban communities and the poor families in poor mountains Some of these families have fallen into poverty due to serious illness and disability and lost their main labor force, and some have sudden family accidents or have difficulties because of COVID-19 unemployment.
According to information released by Shanghai Landscaping and City Appearance Administrative Bureau 1,200 tons of organic waste is destroyed every day in Shanghai, most of which is food.According to the statistics of civil affairs in the fourth quarter of 2019, there are currently 43.16 million urban and rural low-income households, and 4.393 million extremely poor people. Solving the problem of coexistence of food waste and food demand has always been the direction of food bank efforts.
The food bank helps reduce poor households by reducing the waste caused by overproduction and collecting these foods that will be wasted to donate to the vulnerable people to relay. This can not only reduce food waste, but also provide temporary dietary support for people with financial difficulties and encourage them to self-reliance .
Using safe and effective "surplus food" to help vulnerable groups, to convey the most beautiful goodwill in the world, has the practical significance of helping people with zero cost of food.
