The Impossible Poster: Inspire thousands in PR (44849)
Project Overview: The "Impossible Poster" project aims to empower and inspire thousands of girls in Puerto Rico, emphasizing their intrinsic value and the limitless potential they possess. By instilling a sense of self-worth and highlighting the opportunities available, we strive to pave the way for these young girls to navigate the world around them confidently.
Rationale: Recognizing the crucial role of young women and girls in driving societal change, this project seeks to address an often-overlooked demographic. We must begin fostering empowerment and advocacy from a young age, ensuring that the aspirations and needs of our girls are acknowledged and validated.
Summer Camp 2023: During the summer of 2023, Taller Salud's Afrocaribeñas from Taller Salud project successfully organized its third camp for girls in Loiza and the eastern region of Puerto Rico. This camp was aptly themed: "Dismantle gender stereotypes, yes we can!" The base targeted girls aged 7-17, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment for meaningful conversations surrounding critical topics.
Key Topics Addressed:
Outcomes and Impact: The summer camp proved to be a resounding success, with participants expressing newfound confidence and a heightened sense of self-worth. The empowering environment fostered at the center has equipped these girls with the tools and knowledge to challenge societal norms and advocate for their rights. Additionally, valuable connections and friendships were forged, creating a supportive network for these young girls.
Conclusion: The "Impossible Poster" project continues to make significant strides in empowering girls in Puerto Rico. We are laying the foundation for a more inclusive and equitable society by addressing crucial topics and fostering a sense of self-worth. We remain committed to championing the rights and aspirations of young girls, ensuring that their voices are heard and validated.
Gratitude: We sincerely thank GlobalGiving and all our supporters for making this project possible. Together, we are creating a brighter future for the girls of Puerto Rico.
Sincerely,
Yamilin Rivera Santiago
