1. Project Overview
The AFAWI Livelihood Project continues to support women’s economic empowerment through the provision of low-interest loans complemented by targeted business training. The project focuses on women entrepreneurs in low-income and peri-urban communities, aiming to strengthen income-generating activities, enhance financial inclusion, and promote sustainable livelihoods.
This follow-up report captures recent implementation updates, with particular emphasis on loan repayment activities.
2. Updates Since the Last Report2.1 Loan Repayment Collection
During the reporting period, AFAWI focused on collecting loan repayments from women’s groups in Dome, Adenta, and Abokobi. These repayment activities form part of the project’s ongoing monitoring and accountability framework and demonstrate continued engagement by beneficiaries with the revolving loan model.
The collection process has enabled the project team to:
Assess repayment compliance and financial discipline among beneficiary groups
Maintain regular contact with women entrepreneurs to discuss business progress and challenges
Strengthen the sustainability of the Livelihood Project by supporting the continuation of the revolving fund
Overall, the repayment exercise reflects beneficiaries’ commitment to honoring their loan obligations and contributes to the long-term viability of the program.
3. Monitoring and Ongoing Support
In parallel with repayment collection, AFAWI continues to monitor business performance and provide informal guidance to beneficiaries where needed. These interactions allow for early identification of challenges and reinforce responsible financial management practices.
4. Next Steps
Continued repayment collection and follow-up with women’s groups across participating communities
Ongoing monitoring of business growth and household income outcomes
Preparation for subsequent loan cycles using recovered funds to reach additional women entrepreneurs
5. Conclusion
The recent repayment collection from women’s groups in Dome, Adenta, and Abokobi marks an important step in sustaining the AFAWI Livelihood Project. By reinforcing accountability and supporting the revolving loan mechanism, these activities ensure that the project can continue to expand its reach and impact, empowering more women through access to finance and skills development.
