This is now an emergency appeal is for funds to save our Foundation building and centre for our activity. A major crisis has been caused by unforeseen structural issues which arose with the roof replacement and now threatens the fabric of the building built in the 19th Century. Our rennovation costs were scheduled and funds organised, however the roof renewal uncovered some very serious problems that were not budgeted and we simply do not have the money to make the repairs needed.
Our foundation operates and conducts all its actions in this historic building in Zywiec. It was built as a tenement house where Jewish shops at the end of the 19th Century and is more than 140 years old. It was built well adn survived WWII and has been in use almost continously since. This is a major restoration on a scheduled building for which funds were allocated by various donors, however ongoing work has uncovered unforseen problems for which we have no funds. WE ARE NOW DESPERATE!
The Foundation is a Community Hub where more than 100 staff and volunteers help and support several thousand people in difficult life situations. These include long term unemployed, those struggling with diseases or addictions. We help children and we currently opperate a Refugee Help Center in our building. It is here that people who escaped from the war in Ukraine learn Polish, receive legal and psychological help as well as food aid and training.
This is an emergency appeal to save the building and the Foundation. WE need to complete this buiilding to continue to to safely operate and increase operations such as organizing workshops, training, educational and cultural events. People from different backgrounds and cultures rely on us and the building on a daily basis, quite often 7 days a week, Its our administration centre, our cultutal centre, our community support services base. It is the home and the heart of our community.
