Hello GlobalGiving sustainers! For this quarter’s update, we have a treat for you – literally. We want to tell you about a pilot course of the Sustainable Culinary School called “Sweets, Jellies, and Jams.”
In partnership with the Federal University of Ceará and the university’s Social Culinary Project, 20 women from the Bom Jardim community (all heads of households) had the opportunity to take this sweets course. After taking the course, many of the women immediately put their new skills into practice by making and selling sweets and thereby creating a new source of income for their families. The women also had the opportunity to sell their goods through various events organized by MSMC.
This is truly “teach a [wo]man to fish” in action! Your support is helping to break the cycle of poverty and despair that plagues marginalized communities like Bom Jardim. By empowering these women with skills so that they can run their own businesses, you are uplifting them, their families, and their communities. Muito obrigada (thank you very much)!
Sincerely,
Natasha (Development Volunteer)
