The Borneo Project brings international attention and support to community-led efforts to defend forests, sustainable livelihoods, and human rights. We believe that protecting human rights and environmental integrity in Borneo is a critical component of the global movement for a just and peaceful world.
The rainforest in Borneo is being destroyed, which means that communities who have used this land for generations are being displaced and their way of life is being destroyed.
We provide education, mapping, and legal aid support to communities who are fighting logging and palm oil plantation expansion. Specifically, we * Run indigenous language preschools * Provide legal aid and mapping training to help communities get land rights * Fight climate change from deforestation * Fight 12 new mega-dams
Only with access to legal land rights and education can we ensure a long term sustainable future for the forests and the people who depend on them.
