The project will support 1600 Pupil in post conflict Gulu district who suffered trauma, mental health conditions, epilepsy domestic violence during 20years of LRA war. the project will offers psycho education, mental health sensitization, home visits, diagnostic assessments, referral, debates on mental health issues that affects pupils, talking compound/anti stigma This will done through outreaches, collaboration with school administration, partners in educations and health department.
Children and adolescent in Gulu district in Uganda do experience mental health problem s such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse. This is due to domestic violence, child headed family, stigma, lack of education, HIV and Aids among other.
The project will train pupis and teacher s in common mental health conditions to strengthen case identification, referrals , diagonstic assessments and screening as well as creating conductive learning environment for children and teachers with mental health problems.
By the end of the project, there will be improvements in school retention especiallly among pupils with mental health condition, improvement in performance, reduced stigma , better socialization and overall an inclusive learning environment to over 1600 pupils.
