This project will provide skills and knowledge to reformed drug users in jalingo town, it will also give them opportunities to reintegrate properly into society by empowering 200 youths(both male and female) will be trained in various skills in carpentry and joinery, tailoring, shoemaking, barbing salon, catering, and welding. they will be attached to vendors and they will be provided with starter kits at the end of the training.
There are more than 3000 young people using drugs wrongly in jalingo and these drug users have formed gangs and cults within the town, they scared people and commit all kind of crimes like kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry, thuggery, cultism, and gangsterism. They do these and commit a crime under the guise of drugs. These activities are a threat to peace, economic activities, and development. It further impoverishedPotential Lo the citizens and scares away potential investors in Taraba state.
These young people already rehabilitated will have to be engaged meaningfully or else they will go back to doing drugs because there is nothing to keep them busy positively. Engaging them in shoe making, catering and barking, carpentry and joinery, barbing will go a long way to solve the problems of cultism, gangsterism, kidnapping, banditry armed robbery and other crimes. These engagements will create wealth, employment for them and serve as a source of livelihood for them, their families.
The long term impact of this project will impact positively on the community, the youth themselves, security and the economic situations in Jalingo town. There will be a reduction in cult and gang activities youth will stay in schools until completion. Youth will grow healthy and have a future. The society will grow economically thereby creating wealth for prosperity among the youth.
