From Farm Fields to Family Tables

By Olimpia Theodoli | Project Manager

Rejected by shops, not by us, It fed a family of 4
Rejected by shops, not by us, It fed a family of 4

Right now, the way we buy food is far from perfect; a cucumber that is a little too curvy or an apple with a tiny freckle gets rejected. Even though this "ugly" produce is fresh, delicious and packed with vitamins, tonnes are thrown away before they even leave the farm.

As a non-profit, our mission is simple: we don't believe in "perfect"-looking food; we believe in perfectly fed families. This quarter, we focused on proving that our "rescue mission" works.

Small Scale, Big Proof: Compared to the millions of tonnes of food wasted every year, our achievements this quarter are merely a "drop in the ocean." However, this small contribution holds significant value as we establish and reinforce the foundation. We spent the last three months working directly with local farmers to collect what they couldn't sell. We didn't just pick up "trash"—we rescued Premium Nutrition. We moved this fresh produce from where it was being wasted to where it was truly wanted. We proved that we can get "unmarketable" veggies into the hands of families who need them most without losing the quality.

Learning as We Go: Being a non-profit means being honest with our supporters. Occasionally, the logistics are tough. In our latest rounds, about 10% of the vegetables we collected didn't make it to families because they ripened too fast.

Instead of hiding that, we used it to get smarter. We’ve adjusted our pickup times and improved our sorting so that every family receives food they can be proud to put on their table. We aren't giving out "scraps"—we are delivering high-quality, fresh harvests that just happen to look a little unique.

Why We Need You: We have the plan, the farm partners, and the passion. Now, we need the resources to grow. We’ve mastered the "drop"; now help us create a wave. With your support, we can turn this successful pilot into a permanent bridge for our community.
