In Ethiopia, many girls leave school during adolescence due to poverty, early marriage and household responsibilities. Through the Global Girl Leadership Initiative, delivered with Girls Gotta Run, 100 girls will join a three-month programme to build leadership skills and lead community action. We aim to raise $2,500 to support this programme and help girls become confident leaders.
In Ethiopia, 95% of girls start school but only about 20% complete high school. Many leave during adolescence due to poverty, early marriage and family responsibilities. Girls often lack safe spaces to build confidence, leadership skills and support networks that help them stay in school and shape solutions in their communities.
Through the Global Girl Leadership Initiative, girls will attend 11 weekly sessions led by local women facilitators. They explore leadership, discuss challenges affecting their lives and design solutions. The programme ends with a girl-led community event, where girls raise awareness and inspire action on issues they care about.
This project will support 100 girls to build confidence, leadership and public speaking skills through the Global Girl Leadership Initiative. Girls will identify challenges in their communities, design solutions and lead community events that inspire action and dialogue. Your support helps girls challenge harmful norms and create positive change. It strengthens young leaders and builds more resilient communities. Their impact will ripple for years to come.
