Thanks to your generous support, Global Girl Project has been working in Nigeria through our partnership with Strong Enough Girls Empowerment Initiative (SEGEI), training girls from rural communities to lead change.
Between January and March 2026, we completed a cohort with 14 girls. During their 3month leadership journey, the girls attended weekly sessions where they explored the power in their voices, identified local issues, and learned practical leadership skills in project planning and advocacy.
These young leaders tackled poor sanitation and ineffective management of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities in their school. They led sensitisation sessions and advocacy presentations, reaching 80 students and school authorities. The result? School authorities committed to establishing a sanitation club and the girls will take active roles in it.
One graduate shared: "I learned that I have a voice and the power to influence change in my school when I speak up and work together with others."
The $805 raised has funded 14 education grants ($700) and supported their community action event ($105), keeping girls in school and fully engaged in leadership training. We are continuing to build leadership skills and community action in Nigeria. Thank you for making this possible.
