The aim of this project is to provide 13 rural women from difficult economic backgrounds, widowers or single mothers with necessary skills and resources to develop an Event Management and Catering business to ensure sustainability of their business through regular income. The same 13 women, will then in turn create space for 13 young women, to mentor and create income generating activities centered on Events Management and other crucial life skills.
Women in rural Tanzania, especially widowers and single mothers, do not have regular income nor receive government support. Additionally, many young girls in these areas drop out of the educational system at a very young age due to these difficult economic circumstances and lack of support. After starting a Women's Empowerment Group in 2014, we realized the great potential these determined women have in event and business management and even more potential to become mentors to younger girls.
This project will provide 13 rural women with necessary skills and resources to start and run an event management business and therefore generate stable income to help fight poverty. These 13 women will also mentor an additional 13 girls vital life skills such as self-confidence, business management, and event management training in order to create a stable income. Our end goal is to start building a women's support center to spread impact in the area.
The long-term impact of this project is for these 13 women to create their own sustainable business around event management and mentor these younger girls in the community to do the same. To ensure the sustainability and longevity of the African Impact Foundation during COVID-19, donations made via this page as of April 10, 2020, will be used to support all of our projects and operations across Southern and Eastern Africa.
