Over 10 million Nigerian children are out of school, many forced onto the streets. Without help, boys often turn to gangs, theft, and cybercrime for survival. This project will train 1,500 street boys in tailoring, covering transport and meals so they can attend classes. Graduates will receive sewing machines and shop rent support to start small businesses. By acting now, we can replace crime with skills, income, and dignity for thousands of boys.
Nigeria has one of the world's highest numbers of out-of-school children. Street boys are vulnerable to recruitment into gangs, armed robbery, and cybercrime as a means of survival. With no formal education or trade, they remain trapped in poverty and crime cycles. Lack of vocational training opportunities means even those seeking honest work cannot find alternatives. This not only puts their lives at risk but also affects community safety and development.
This project will enroll 1,500 street boys in tailoring training, giving them practical skills to earn a stable income. Each participant will receive transport and daily lunch during training to prevent dropouts. Upon graduation, boys will be supported with sewing machines and shop rent, so they can immediately begin working. By providing both training and startup resources, we help move boys away from the streets into productive, self-sustaining livelihoods.
Graduates will gain the tools to earn steady income, reducing poverty and crime in their communities. Tailoring skills are in high demand in Nigeria, allowing trainees to build lasting businesses and support their families. With shop space and machines, they can employ others, multiplying the impact. Subsequently, this initiative will turn at-risk street boys into skilled workers, role models, and contributors to community stability and economic growth.
