Opit Kic Alenyo North intends to train and support with start up materials 40 young women who have been victims of forced child marriage and early unions on hairdressing skills for a year in padibe East sub county Lamwo district to provide vocational skills for self reliance and also provide them with sanitary facilities to increase access to and claims sexual and reproductive health rights.
The patriarchal attitudes of parents and clan leaders where young girls are looked at as source of family wealth in form of dowry has now led to rampant cases of forced child marriage and early unions in Padibe East these has left many young women into vicious cycle of poverty where there basic need go unmet.Most of them are girls below 18 years.Alternative of training them on hair dressing skills will improve their socioeconomic conditions and on the one hand financial independence.
we will train and support young married,formerly married ,married women with mobility restrictions and school drop out in hair dressing skills .The program activities includes selection of beneficiaries,hiring training venue,training on hair dressing,financial skills,training on life skills,providing start up materials and graduating them.By training them on hair dressing and financial skills they will be able to generate income and other enterprises which will move them out of poverty.
The project will train and support 40 young women ,elevating them out of poverty traps which provide them and their families self reliance and financial independence.Financially potential women can wholly provide and support their family thrive as a hardworking and healthy members responsible for community socioeconomic transformation.
