This project is geared towards building the capacity of 50 youths that would serve as change agents in combating Cybercrime through sensitization and the use of a Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) approach, which moves people from awareness to action. Evidence based advocacy would also be adopted to evalute the success rate in curbing Cybercrime. The project would foster a safe cyber space, societal development and employability of the youths.
The Global internet Fraud Index ranks Nigeria 3rd in cybercrime. This is fuelled by the high rate of youths unemployment that hovers around 23.1%. This project aims at empowering and sensitising the youths on the socio-economic and psychological effects of Cybercrime. Lift4Africa through Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) will build the capacity of 50 Change agents who will engage and train other youths so as to trigger a societal and value reorientation amongst Nigerians.
Lift4Africa will train 50 Youths (cybercrime converts and unemployed youths) as Change Agent in Imo State, South-Eastern Nigeria. They will conduct a Regular public Sensitization that is aimed to contribute in reducing the prevalence of Cybercrime in the country. The training would adopt Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) as a tool, also evidence-based advocacy will be used to evaluate Cybercrime activities. The project Will promote safe cyber space and foster employability among the youths.
50 Change Agents through sensitization, training and Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) would trigger a reformed and value oriented society. Evidence based advocacy would be used to evaluate the success rate in the regression of Cybercrime. Through sensitization and capacity building, the Change agents would engage more Nigerians on the effects of cybercrime, therefore reducing Cybercrime, foster employment opportunities, ensuring societal change and economic growth among Nigerian Youths.
