This project aims to find an innovative e-training and e-recognition of prior learning solution within the ECD sector. The current training challenges of access, redress, quality and scale may be reduced because of this project. Online training in the ECD sector will provide partially/untrained and new entrants into the ECD workforce an affordable option to obtain an ECD qualification. It is expected that financial obstacles, due to the high cost of training, would also be significantly reduced.
There are 6 978 000 children in South Africa under the age of six years. According to numbers released, 240 000 ECD facilitators/practitioners and 110 000 assistants, need to be qualified by 2030. Without the proper qualified teachers we will never be able to equip ALL our children with the proper skills for school readiness.
Cotlands wants to create a more equal and prosperous South African society by increasing vulnerable children's access to play-based early learning opportunities. We need to scale our services and we recognises that we cannot do this alone. Not having suitably qualified practitioners that can work across a range of ECD programmes will become a barrier to scale for the country.
This impactful solution will create a more equal and prosperous South Africa through better educated children. The children have a better chance of success IF they are exposed to the BEST teachers. Qualified teachers!
