When Samuel lost his job, learning shoe making gave him hope again. Across Nigeria, many young people are unemployed but eager to learn practical skills. This project will train 120 youths in shoe making, providing hands-on skills that enable them to earn income, restore dignity, and take steps toward financial independence.
Youth unemployment remains high in Nigeria, leaving over 35 millions of young people without income or direction in Nigeria. Limited access to vocational training keeps youths trapped in poverty, increasing frustration and vulnerability. Many want to work but lack affordable opportunities to learn practical, income-generating skills like shoe making.
In collaboration with 15 local artisans, this project will provide comprehensive 1 year and 6 months of shoe-making training to 120 young people through hands-on practical trainings. Participants will learn essential skills using shared tools and materials, gaining practical knowledge to start small-scale production, apprenticeships, or self-employment within their communities.
Our long-term goal is economically empowered youth with practical skills and confidence. Graduates will generate income, reduce unemployment pressure, and inspire others to learn trades. Over time, this program contributes to stronger local economies and helps young people build sustainable livelihoods through craftsmanship.
