Thank you for your support in 2019

By Marie-Claude Pelchat | Project Leader

Thanks to your generous support in 2019, Sunshine Foundation has been able to continue sharing its burn rehabilitation experience with partners in other countries through professional trainings and exchange visits.

Here is what you helped us achieve in 2019…

  • Our therapists shared their expertise dealing with facial burns during a special workshop carried out as part of the Asian regional meeting of burn professionals.
  • We began planning for a new two-year capacity building project for burn therapists in Central and South America by carrying out a very extensive training needs assessment with partners. The new project will focus on advanced techniques for the fabrication of pressure garments, and is in continuity with the first training program carried out from 2011 to 2014.
  • We welcomed a therapists from India for a one-month study visit to learn and exchange about burn rehabilitation and the multidisciplinary work model of Sunshine.
  • We began testing out the use of online courses (E-Learning) to train therapists in other countries. It is hoped that in the future, online courses can be used to overcome issues of time and distance, as well as maximize the learning experience of trainees through a combination of online and classroom training.

We hope that you will continue to support our international work in 2020 as we aim to develop new cooperation projects and new training methods to help burn rehabilitation professional in other countries give burn survivors the best care possible. Again, thank you!
